Sanoma Pro / Illustration and Character Design / 2024
Kulma is a math book series aimed for students from 7th to 9th grade. Since the target audience is teenagers, the books contain more photos and less illustrations than in earlier grades. Illustrations still play an important role in visualising abstract mathematics and explaining concepts in comic strip format. The students are also given breaks in form of full page board games that aim to improve learning through play. Original character design for the book series was done by Maria Makkonen, and I continued from where she left by adapting the characters to my visual style and adding some of my own.
